Kent Armstrong Smooth Sam Jazz Guitar Pickup Neck Mount

ALNICO V / D.C. =8K- A sweet-sounding Humbucking Jazz pick-up designed for use with traditional Arch Top guitars. This version has a suitable mounting bracket attached for neck mounting. Made in the tradition of the Johnny Smith endorsed Gibson's introduced in the early 1960's. Alnico V bar magnets.

The Smooth Sam Jazz Pickup from Kent Armstrong is intended for mounting to the end of a guitar's fingerboard. The two mounting tabs wrap around the outside of the fingerboard and the pickup is attached with the four screws. Once you have the tabs properly profiled to fit the neck, mark the four mounting tab holes on the edges of the neck and drill 1/16" pilot holes for the screws. The tabs can be bent with pliers to match your fingerboard's width and profile. Wrap the jaws of the pliers with electrical tape to protect the pickup. You may also find it necessary to "tweak" the angle of the mounting tabs relative to the face of the pickup. This will insure that the pickup is parallel to the stings. When bending the tabs, grasp them near the pickup housing and gently bend them the desired amount. Try to avoid re-bending.

There are two solder lugs on the bottom of the pickup ready for your wiring. We recommend purchasing our Gibson braided wire. The lug closest to the mounting tabs is the ground or shield lug, and it should be wired to the Gibson wire's outer braid. The inner conductor of the wire will connect to the inner or hot lug. You can run the pickup straight into output endpin jack, or you may choose to use onboard volume and tone controls. These controls can be mounted to the instrument's pickguard, or into holes drilled into the face of the guitar. 500k for brighter tone, 250k for warmer tone.

Any order placed before 2.30pm on a working day will generally be sent the same day. If the order is placed after 2.30pm on a weekday or anytime during the weekend or a public holiday we will send the order the next working day.

UK Orders: 

• Royal Mail First Class - this costs £1.95 per order but becomes free if your order value is £30.00 or higher. Royal Mail typically aims to deliver First Class parcels for the next working day although can sometimes take up to 5 days. No signature is required upon delivery. You will be sent a tracking number but the tracking information is very limited. It will only be updated once an attempted delivery has been made. If you see the message 'An update will only be provided when we attempt to deliver your item' on the Royal Mail website, this means that an attempted delivery has not yet been made and is still processing through the Royal Mail network.
• DPD - this service costs £6.50 per order but becomes free if your order value is £90.00 or higher. This is a next-working day service and UK Mail will send an email or text on the day of the delivery with a timed 1 hour delivery slot. This service is only available for UK mainland addresses. A signature is required upon receipt of the parcel and deliveries can be made anytime up until 6.00pm on the day of the delivery.
• Royal Mail Special Delivery - this service costs £9.95 and Royal Mail guarantee that the delivery will be made the next working day before 1.00pm. Royal Mail will email or text you with delivery updates and a signature is required upon receipt of the parcel

International Orders:

• Any EU orders placed on our website that amounts to a total of €150.00 or less will be inclusive of VAT and fees. Therefore, the price that you pay at our checkout is final pricing - no additional handling fees or import fees.  Any order that is above €150.00 will not be inclusive of VAT or import fees and these additional fees will need to be paid to your local postal service, once the goods arrive at your local customs. (Please note, this all-fee-inclusive scheme is only applicable to business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions and cannot be applied to any business-to-business (B2B) transactions) 

• European Registered Post - for any address in Europe, this service costs £9.95 per order and is sent using the Royal Mail Tracked service. In most cases, the parcel is handed over to the local postal service to deliver it. A signature is generally not required but will be tracked to ensure a safe delivery. Most parcels take an average of 3 - 7 working days to deliver.

• European Registered Courier - for any address in Europe, this service costs £25.00 per order and we will select a courier to deliver the parcel. A signature is required upon receipt of the parcel. Delivery times vary but typically take 2 - 5 working days.

• International Registered Post - for any address outside of Europe, this service costs £12.95 per order and is sent using the Royal Mail Tracked service. In most cases, the parcel is handed over to the local postal service to deliver it. A signature is generally not required but will be tracked to ensure a safe delivery. Most parcels take an average of 4 - 10 working days to deliver.

• International Registered Courier - for any address outside of Europe, this service costs £30.00 per order and we will select a courier to deliver the parcel. A signature is required upon receipt of the parcel. Delivery times vary but typically take 3 - 7 working days.

Returns:

If you need to return a product purchased from Armstrong Pickups, please notify us in writing (email/letter) within 14 working days and then return the item to us within 28 working days in order to receive a full refund without the original delivery charge.  The cost of returning the item to Armstrong Pickups is not included unless the return is due to missing or faulty parts. 

The returned goods must be in a re-saleable state and any goods or accessories that accompany the returned product must also come back to us. The goods should also be returned with their original box, packing and accessories. Please click here for further details.
